LizeLulu Listen will soon be over at the end of June. There was an interview last year at the beginning of LizeLulu Listen radio show in Excite News (you can read the English translation of first half here and second half here) and they just interviewed LizeLulu Listen again before the event on May 29th. I think the two interviews, when read side by side, really reflect just how much they have grown so close with each other in the course of one year, and I think it is to be appreciated and cherished, especially as the radio show itself is coming to its end. Looking back 'LizeLulu" "one year after the radio show begins"
"LizeLulu Listen" is a radio show hosted by Lize Helesta and Suzuhara Lulu, the popular virtual livers (VTuber) belonging to Nijisanji agency. After beginning on April last year, it gains popularity and upon reaching its first anniversary on April this year it was moved into "Nijisanji Hour" slot in Nippon Cultural Broadcast Chou! A&G+. The show airs every sunday on 2.30 PM
On May 29th (Sat) the first event for the show "Nijisanji Hour Festival Lize Lulu Listen" will be held. In Tokyo Zepp Haneda, using 3D model, they will hold open recording and mini live, with online streaming also scheduled.
In this Ekirebi (Excite Interview), we will interview them once again, following the last interview last year on April for LizeLulu. In this first half we will ask their feelings upon the decision of radio event and the changes they feel within this one year.
"Zepp Haneda is so unbelievable, it went way over our imagination"
- Please tell me your feelings when "LizeLulu Listen"'s first radio event was being announced.
Lize With the radio event being held in such a grand scale like this, along with the happiness, I was also extremely surprised. What about you, Lulu-chan? When you first heard about it, were you surprised?
Lulu I was really, really, surprised. After all, to do a radio event in a place where more than 2000 people can fit in... This might sounds wondrous, but I have said that I want to do a radio event with Lize-sama since a long time ago, so I thought if we just say it, dreams do come true (lol).
The plan is to do open recording and a live. I feel really happy that we can show to those who listen to "LizeLulu Listen" how we usually do our recording. On top of it, since the early days of the show I have said that I want to do a live as Lizelulu, so that makes me happy as well. I can't believe that two dreams come true at the same time. I still feel like in a trance, I still havent really feel it as real (lol).
Lize The radio event that I had in mind, is the kind where both of us being in a booth and outside the booth by the roadside, there are people who watches us.
Lulu That's right! I also imagined that kind of event. My dream was only around "it'd be great if we can do it". We didn't think it'd be Zepp Haneda, it was beyond our imagination.
- I think that the reason it comes to this is because the show managed to remain in positive reception for one year. After being a radio host for one year, is there time when you feel the difference of your personal stream on youtube and the radio?
Lulu To stream is to do something impromptu, just as is without any cut or editing. However, LizeLulu Listen is a recorded show so there are actually parts that are being cut. There are times when while listening to it airs, I thought, "Oh so cut that part", so there is a sense that I am enjoying it for the second time as well.
Lize I know, right! I also get like "Was the conversation like that?" and so on. Also for me, during regular stream I usually talked according to the viewer's comment. By reading the comments, I will be able to know in what kind of atmosphere were the viewer watching. In radio, we have to talk continuously for 30 minutes without being able to do that, so I feel a bit nervous.
Lulu Yes. Especially during the early days, I really pondered like, "I wonder if what the (radio's) listener want to hear is something like this?". But when I look at the hashtag (#リゼるる) in twitter, everyone said "It's so fun, time just flies", which makes me feel assured.
- For the radio, there are also the script by the scriptwiter. With how much freely you usually talk during stream, did you feel any difficulties for having a script to follow? Or instead, you have grown used to talking according to the script?
Lize In a radio script, there are pointers on the topics to talk about for each corner. Even for the free talk part, for example for April, "What about try talking about how the Golden Week is close?" or the likes. For me personally, I am the type that feel thankful to have directions like that. It's something that I feel from the start of the radio, which doesn't change even now.
Lulu I thought Lize-sama is the opposite type.
Lize Really? Why?
Lulu Lize-sama always call herself to be "bad in free talk", but inside me, I have an image that you are very good in it. I thought that you will be able to do it more freely without it.
Lize Not at all. That's totally help if it exist (lol).
Lulu I am also really bad at finding a topic by myself, the script really helped me (lol).
Lize The scriptwriter watches our stream a lot. They picked up topic on Nijisanji event in great details.
Lulu There also times they wrote what occured in the stream just a day before.
Lize They really did. That's why, it makes it really easy to follow.
- The script is taking the role like funny comments are during the stream, isn't it?
Lulu Yes, that is probably true.
Lize I guess. Moreover, during the radio, not only the script, during the recording the scriptwriter will also provide direction on sketchbook and so on.
Lulu They help on many so many things. In truth just like comments they helped us.
"I thought, "In this kind of time, how will Lize sama talk?"
- Do you feel you have won against the feelings pf being bad at free talk which you said in the interview one year ago?
Lulu I am getting good in free talk, if compared to the early days!
Lize Awesome!
Lulu Probably, sure there is the experience I got in "LizeLulu Lizten", but inside me, Lize-sama really becomes my reference.
Lize Eh? Me?
Lulu There are so many times Lize-sama managed to draw out words.
Lize No way~
Lulu During the time I am streaming alone by thinking, "In this kind of time, how will Lize-sama talk?", words will come out.
Lize So when Lulu-chan is doing free talk in her stream, there is an "Imaginary Lize" (lol).
Lulu Yes. Behind me there is a Lize-sama standing like a merchandise stand (lol).
Lize So she was standing while making a funny pose (lol)
Lulu Ahahaha (lol). But, I really think of Lize-sama.
Lize That makes me happy. For me, too, compared to when we started, that feeling of being bad in free talk has disappeared quite a lot. During free talk stream that I did alone, there are still times even now I still find difficult, but if we were to talk about the free talk in "LizeLulu", the factor that I get to be in tune with Lulu is huge. Right now I find it extremely easy to talk to her.
Lulu Compared to our first episod, we get really close and I think we get to link in many things now.
Lize How to say it, we get to know the breath of each other's talk. I come to know a bit, like "I guess Lulu-chan will say something like this at this moment".
Lulu Me too, with the number of episodes accumulates, have the image of Lize-sama even stronger in me. Lately, (even imagination) I can now materialize her (lol).
Lize And so by that, I turned into a merch stand (lol).
- Before the radio show, both of you almost have no interaction at all and even in Nijisanji fans, the concept of "LizeLulu" did not even exist. If we look at it that way, it is an amazing change.
Lulu When the radio just began, I think probably the listener also thought, "What kind of chemistry will these two create?" and listened to us while feeling a bit uncertain. However, now, knowing that "LizeLulu" has grown fimilar makes me really happy.
Lize Yes. During the usual stream, too, Lulu-chan's name pop up naturally in the listener comment like "How is Lulu-chan?". It makes me happy to know that inside everyone, there really is an image that both of us "Lizelulu" are doing a radio together.
"Exchanging Line contact, for both of us, is a really important event"
- Please tell me the happenings that make you really feel that "We're getting closer!", in or out of the radio show.
Lulu We exchanged Line contact, right.
Lize For both of us, it is an important accomplisment.
- Lize-san, even in your personal stream, you reported so happily how you have exchange LINE with Lulu-san, right?
Lulu I also saw that clip (lol). But, a bit after exchanging LINE, we only sent Stickers at each other but we did not send message. However, in a "LizeLulu Listen"project, we got a mission to call each other. After we get into contact with each other due to the project, me and Lize-sama have come to message each other's LINE a lot (lol).
Lize And I, too, after that project, send message to Lulu-chan a lot from LINE. Once their husks are shattered, human are amazing, aren't they (lol). Just by this small thing, we turned to be able to LINE.
Lulu I can now ask her out to play easier. In the past, before I asked her out I thought "Is Lize-sama busy?" and so on, but now I can casually ask, "are you open in this day?"
Lize I know, I know! If we can't do it at that day, there are still time anyway. I have come to think of it more casually like that.
Lulu From the very first plac,e I don't really check LINE or used it. After I exchanged address with Lize-sama, I used it quite often now.
Lize Really? That became a trigger? (lol).
Lulu Yes.
- It seems like both of you watch each other's streams a lot.
Lulu I watch Lize-sama's stream a lot from the start, but now I think pay more attention to it maybe (lol). I watched this morning's guerilla stream!
Lize Really? It was 8 AM in the morning, though?
- For Lize-san, it is really unusual to do morning stream, right?
Lulu I thought, "Lize-sama is streaming in the morning! This is super rare!" And more over, it was ASMR stream (using a special mic), my ears were in a bliss since the morning.
Lize Lulu-chan! At least tell me like "I watched you this morning" or something! (lol). I really didn't know, that took me off guard.
Lulu I thought it'd be a bit disgusting, having a bit serious feelings vibe (lol). But, when I have time off, I really watch her a lot.
Lize I also watch her a lot. With Lulu-chan, our streaming schedule tipped a bit off each other it's easy to see. There are many instances when my stream was over, Lulu-chan's stream begins.
Lulu Yes, yes.There are many times Lize-sama's stream is right before my streaming time.
- This is a change of topic but it appears since the changing of year, Suzuhara-san has begin to raise a cute kitten (Mukuchan). This is only a simple guess, within the reasons of why Suzuhara-san wants to keep a cat, does it have anything to do with Lize-san keeping a cat-like cute lioness? Because I, too, when I hard my friend talking about the story of their cute pet, want to have one for myself.
Lulu There is, quite some relation to it~
Lize So there is! (lol)
Lulu Not only Lize-sama, but within livers, many are keeping a cat. I spend many times doing my work at home, so I think there won't be many instances where I will make the cat be lonely, so I came to think I want to have one...
Lize When we have meetings (from online phone calls), I smiled when I can feel Muku-chan's presence from behind Lulu-chan.
Lulu At times his crying voice got into the phone (lol).
- Do you also consult on keeping a cat?
Lulu It's not really like a consultion, but when, along with the manager, all three of us talked together, the Manager talked of how she wants to keep a cat. I think I told her "I want to keep one too". Around one week after that, I showed his photo for the first time and said, "Actually, I have begun to raise one"
Lize It was really sudden, so I went "Eeh?!"
Lulu Probably, the very first person I told to was Lize-sama.
Lize Really?! He was so small, he was really really cute!
